PhD Scholarships from University of Western Australia for 2014

The University of Western Australia (UWA) has been teaching the best quality tertiary education since 1913. Located in Perth, Australia, it is considered as one of the top and most prestigious universities in Australia and continues to do so in the present and for the future. UWA aims to achieve the highest quality research and scholarship at international standards of excellence through PhD scholarships to those unable to do so. As a matter of fact, the university offers an International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) in 2014 for qualified international students pursuing Master’s degree by Research or Doctor’s degree by Research.

The objective of the IPRS scheme is to draw highly competent international students to different fields of research in which the University has specialized strengths and to support Australia’s research effort. The successful applicants of these PhD scholarships will become members of a research team supervised by senior researchers and in a region appealed outside resources. The scholarship value includes tuition fee scholarship for up to four years, fortnightly stipend, and health insurance. IPRS also includes a full living allowance scholarship yearly.

Eligibility for PhD scholarships like IPRS will be available only for students who have: completed a four year undergraduate degree at first-class honours level or equivalent, achievement of proficiency in English language, with intention to enroll as a full-time student for a master’s degree by research or a PhD degree, and will start course in the next semester, following this scholarship round. In which they have successfully Put application and applied.

For the standards of proficiency in English language, the applicant must GSCE C6, International English Language Testing System or IELTS score at 6.5, TOEFL score at 580 or above, internet-based TOEFL score at 95, a minimum score of 22 for listening and reading, a Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English C grade, UWA CELT Bridging Program B+ grade, a Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English B grade, or a PTE Academic overall score of 64 with at least 64 score in writing and reading, and a minimum of 54 score in other sections. All English tests results must be received within the past two years. Failure to pass such proof will be considered ineligible for the scholarship.

Applying for the IPRS PhD scholarships will automatically consider you as a SIRF (Scholarships for International Research Fees) scholar. Your scholarship application will include the option of getting your Masters by Research (MPhil) and Doctorate study place or candidature together so no need to send separate application forms. If you have or previously did so, then please do inform the Graduate Research and Scholarships Office immediately for them to be notified and consider your separate application as one. If you are a citizen of the People’s Republic of China, then you are eligible for an International Research Fee Scholarship for China supported by the western Australia university. It is important to note that there are no separate scholarship application fees so no need to save for one. Please Note,  Applications will be open 01/07/2013 till 30/08/2013.
