PhD Scholarships from University of Melbourne for 2014

Public-spirited educational institution University of Melbourne offers unique contributions to the academic society when it comes to learning and teaching, engagement, and research. This makes the university one of the leading schools across the globe that ranks first in Australia and then 28th worldwide. With its continuous dedication and commitment in academics, the university is now providing PhD scholarships to give those financially incapacitated, but willing students who would wish to pursue their academic career in higher education. Among the scholarships open for PhD students for 2014 are the Melbourne International Research Scholarships or MIRS, the Human Rights Scholarships or HRS, the Melbourne International Fee Remission Scholarship or MIFRS, and the International Postgraduate Research Scholarships or IPRS.

Melbourne International Research Scholarships are the PhD scholarships given to those international students who wish to enroll for graduate research degree studies offered at the University of Melbourne being funded by the university itself. There are nearly 220 research scholarships offered yearly and 100 of which are typically given as Melbourne International Research Scholarship. They provide scholars with $24,653 for living allowance, $2,000 for the relocation of students transferring from interstate to get their degree at the university or $3,000 to those transferring from overseas, $420 for the thesis allowance of those taking masters degrees and $840 for those taking up PhD and any other doctorate degrees by research, and paid maternity, parenting and sick leave. Applicants for these study grants are expected to have unconditional offering a degree in graduate research at the university. They are also entitled to commence and enrolled in international research degree students. Applicants are being considered according to their academic merits and eligibility criteria. Their application need to be submitted by August 31, 2013.

Human Rights Scholarships are provided to international or local applicants who wish to take graduate research degrees in human rights and those who demonstrate commitment for human rights advancement. These academic awards offer scholars $28,000 yearly living allowance, $2,000 relocation grant for those moving interstate or $3,000 from overseas, $420 thesis allowance and $840 for PhD and any other research doctorate, and paid maternity, parenting and sick leave.  Applicants are required to have high H2A in minimum grade average, submit their admission or candidature and scholarship application forms not later than October 31, 2013 and complete their HRS coversheet along with supporting documents.

Melbourne International Fee Remission Scholarship are PhD scholarships given to international PhD students who wish to take research degrees. These scholarships cover the full tuition fees of the successful applicants, but not the health care of the overseas students. Applicants of these scholarships should pass their application form and other pertinent documents on or before August 31, 2013.

Unlike the other PhD scholarships, International Postgraduate Research Scholarships or IPRS are being funded by the government of Australia for the PhD degree study of the successful applicants. The scholarships cover the full tuition fees for an annual of the research degree and the yearly Overseas Student Health Cover or OSHC. Successful applicants receive APAInt providing thesis allowance, living allowance and any other benefits. Interested students are encouraged to submit their applications and other necessary documents before August 31, 2013.
