PhD Scholarships from University of St. Andrews for 2013

Research institute University of St. Andrews is considered as the oldest higher education centre in Scotland. It is one of the top-notch universities in UK. In fact, it ranks fourth in the country based on the survey of the Guardian University Guide 2013. It is notable for the diversity of its student body, more than 30% of which is composed of international students from a hundred countries and 15% from North America. All of these are reflexive on its offline and online programs that are also available with PhD scholarships. And one of these study grants is its 600 Anniversary PhD Scholarship.

In line with its effort to invest in the educational future of the world-leading researchers in the next generation, the university launches its new PhD scholarship scheme called 600th Anniversary PhD Scholarship programs. These scholarship grants are accessible starting September 2013 and include fees along with as much as £15,000 yearly stipend for 3 years. They are available for PhD students who are interested in the areas of Sciences, Medicine, and Arts and Humanities. There are actually a hundred of these scholarships offered here that are available for all PhD students. They will be granted based on the research guarantee and academic quality of the applicants.

The school and unit postgraduate scholarships of the university can be categorized into:

  1. School and Unit Scholarships for Home or Domestic Students – Carnegie or Caledonian postgraduate scholarships, Henry Dryerre scholarships in Physiology, Art History scholarships, music center scholarships, research council awards, Royal & Ancient golf club scholarships, PhD studentships in Zoonotic malaria, and School of Management for PhD funding
  2. School and Unit Scholarships for International Students – Art History of PhD scholarships, Masters scholarships, Brazil Science without borders programme, and School of Management for PhD funding.

University of St. Andrews’ School of Medicine PhD studentships are available in the fields of sensing, manipulation, and imaging within media. These scholarships are available to meet the emerging as well as internationally acknowledged area within the collaborative effort between the schools of medicine and physics. So applicants for these scholarships are expected to have know-how about physics along with insight into Medicine or Biology.

Interested and eligible applicants for the above-mentioned PhD scholarships need to determine their potential supervisor. Applicants should submit their curriculum vitae or CV, an outline proposal of their research interest, and an expression of research topic until January 18, 2013. Full application of these scholarships is only accepted until February 26, 2013.

Opportunities for postgraduate funding are also available for the School of History applicants of the university starting September 2013. These may include but not limited to a one-year award with home fees for one year at the MLitt level and the 600 Anniversary PhD Scholarships, AHRC scholarships, the Dr. Jamie Stuart Cameron award, and School of History studentships. They are also available for any intensive language study that are granted to students in their final year starting an MLitt in school year 2013-2014 or the students for Master’s degree starting in 2013-2014.
