By onlinephd |

World-class Cardiff University is the institution that is consistently recognised as a great provider of research-based education with utmost quality. The university is highly regarded as an international academic institution as it welcomes all eligible students from more than 100 countries. It is one of the top 20 universities and is being shortlisted for the University of the Year award in the University Guide 2013 of “Sunday Times.” It sees to it that all its graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills beneficial for public use as they finished their studies. This is reflected in the fact that 94 percent of its graduates are employed or continue their academic career in higher education in six months. So to continue its legacy, the university offers its student aid programs to deserving students who are unable to support their own studies. It is now offering its Overseas Research Scholarships for 2013. These PhD scholarships are only available to students pursuing for PhD degree programs at the university.

The Overseas Research Scholarships of Cardiff University are intended for students enrolling for full time PhD programmes for three years, which is still subjected to the maintenance of the satisfactory academic progress of the students. Specifically, these PhD scholarships are granted to students who are commencing for their PhD degrees on October 1, 2013 or those with agreement of their school on January 1, 2014. They will cover the students’ difference between the fee being charged to the overseas PhD students and the tuition fee for home, full-time PhD students for three years. This only suggests students to look for other source of fund for their remaining fees and be responsible for their own maintenance costs.

Qualified candidates for these research PhD scholarships are those who already have attained the equivalent UK first class bachelor’s degree and those required by their subject interest in order to hold a Master’s level standard qualification. Applicants are required to give demonstration showing their potential as outstanding researchers using their research proposals and previous academic achievements. They are also expected to become firm on their intention of pursuing their PhD degree programme at Cardiff University along with their proposed research group and/or supervisor.

All applicants are being recommended to converse with their preferred supervisor in discussing their PhD proposal prior to the submission of their application. They are expected to apply for PhD study before the deadline of the application on May 3, 2013. They should be able to satisfy the university’s academic entry requirements. They should also be more than qualified for the study grants and be more motivated coupled with their outstanding academic record and research potential.

Always remember that these PhD scholarships will be granted competitively to excellent students with high potential for research. Take into account the fact that they can be held in any subject. However, the proposed research topic should be in line with the research priorities of the school where students want to conduct the research. This recommends applicants to discuss their proposal with their supervisor.
