Online PhD Degree Programs – University of Montana, Missoula

Founded in 1893, the University of Montana is Montana’s largest state university; its campus has been described as a city within a city, since it has its own ZIP code, postal services, medical facilities, banks and eateries. Since the 1990s, it has become best known for its athletic program, with its college team, the Grizzlies, emerging as one of the most dominant in both the NCAA Division I-Championship and the Big Sky Conference. The University has five schools and colleges, as well as a Continuing Education division and offers students the opportunity to earn a degree online through undergraduate and online PhD degree programs.
Online PhD degree programs offered by the University of Montana include a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D) degree and a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D) in Educational Leadership. These are conducted similar to on-campus courses, with specific start and end dates and coursework requirements; the difference is that the student can access the course at a time that is convenient for them. The time commitment, however, will be similar to that of a regular degree program.
Both online PhD degree programs require the prospective student to have completed a Master’s degree or its academic equivalent. When applying, the student must supply his or her transcript of records to the admissions committee along with three letters of recommendation, official scores for the Graduate Records Exam (GRE), an updated resume and a statement of goals essays (at least 500 words). The programs may also have their own specific entry requirements and residency requirements, so the student should check at the program’s official webpage.
