PhD Scholarships from University of Leicester for 2013

Research-led University of Leicester is highly regarded as one of the leading UK universities that only provide quality higher education. For the school year 2013-2014, it has already introduced the study fields for its PhD degrees alongside it PhD studentships.
The PhD studentships of the university are available in various study fields to satisfy every educational need of its students. They include PhD Studentship in the American Studies, in Diabetes and Metabolic Medicine, in English, 10 x Doctor of Education or EdD Studentship, and 2 x PhD Studentships in Education.
Leicester University’s Centre for American Studies offers PhD students with fee-waiver studentship to pay their tuition fees for the October 2013 entry in three years’ time. This study grant is open for applicants who came from EU or UK and from other countries. Successful candidates will be given freedom to choose their preferred topics for research and supervision. They may choose from the research areas ranging from the American History, the American Politics, the American Studies, the American Film as well as Visual Culture, and the American Literature. They have to make certain that their proposed research topic is compatible with one academic staff member’s research interest.
The fully-funded studentship grant of the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences pays the tuition fees of the successful candidates for 3.5 years in their degree, provides an annual stipend of 13,726 pounds, and a yearly Research Support Grant covering 300 pounds allowance for their conference or travel. The areas of research ongoing under this program are the physical activity continuum among obese people with no chronic disease or those who are overweight, metabolic health, and biomedical science. Successful scholarship applicants are expected to extend this research work into people suffering from type-2 diabetes.
Ten fee-waiver studentships are being offered by the School of Education to EdD program applicants. These studentships pay half of the tuition fees of EU/UK part-time scholars for five years. Recipients of these PhD studentships will be studying the areas of social justice education, educational leadership, learning and change, and educational engagement and vulnerability. The school also offers two funded scholarships that pay full-time tuition fees for three years along with a maintenance grant every year.
The fee-waiver studentship of the School of English pays for the full-time tuition fees of scholars for three years. The research areas covered here are life writing, history of the book, art, film and literature, and sexuality and gender.
Take note that interested applicants for these PhD studentships should be holders of first-class or high upper second-class honors degree in their respective field of specification. They should have a Master’s degree or any evidence that will prove their worth for these study grants. These scholarships are available for UK, EU, and international PhD students who will enroll in the 2013-2014 academic year.
