Public school Charles Darwin University or CDU is an institution that only provides excellent research-based higher education as well as vocational and education and training courses that can be taken in flexible choices. One of its notable features why more and more students opt to get their degree at this institution is its altruistic and adaptive culture allowing it to thrive and survive the ever changing world. It continues to attract students across the globe with its student grants being offered to deserving students taking up PhD degrees. In fact, CDU is already offering its PhD scholarships for 2014 such as the International Postgraduate Research Scholarships or IPRS and the Prestigious International Research Tuition Scholarships or PIRTS.

Basically, CDU is offering a great number of university and government funded research scholarships that are available for financially constrained students who are interested to further their academic career in higher education. These PhD scholarships usually have duration of two years for students under Masters Research and three years for PhDs. Two of its scholarship offerings for 2014 are IPRS and PIRTS.

IPRS are designed to attain the interest of top-notch international postgraduates to areas in Australia’s higher education providers or HEP and to back the research effort of the country. They allow PhD students to hold a qualifying evidence of postgraduate research and gain experience along with the prominent researchers of the country. They are accessible to international students from any country except New Zealand. They cover health costs for scholars and their dependents relocating in Australia and tuition fees. Other eligibility qualifications for IPRS are:

  1. Compliance to requirements for student visa pursuant to the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship.
  2. Conducting research in one of the priority areas of the university.
  3. Not having higher or an equivalent qualification.
  4. Not a recipient of an AusAID scholarship grant in two years prior to the commencement of IPRS.
  5. Not a recipient of any other scholarship funded by the Australian Government.

Meanwhile, those students who are interested in applying for the PIRTS, they should commence their studies by March 31, 2014 except when approved otherwise. These PhD scholarships are intended to increase the research quality, global reach, and productivity of the university. They attract high quality students or researchers from CDU’s strategic partner universities in countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Timor Leste, and China. They provide successful applicants with stipend coming from agencies and government. They pay for the tuition fees for research for Intensive English Language Course or ELICOS in 10 weeks. Applicants for these grants should consider the following:

  1. Commencing for a full-time admission for PhD degree at CDU
  2. Being an international student with enough funds to cover health, living, and other expenses
  3. Completed bachelor’s degree with first class honors or its equivalent
