Those who wish to do distance learning and take a postgraduate course in Engineering, Science and the Built Environment may now apply at the London South Bank University, one of the oldest universities in Central London based in the London Borough of Southwark. Formerly known as the Borough Polytechnic Institute in 1892, the university is now an institution of four faculties including: Health and Social Care; Business; Arts and Human Sciences; and Engineering, Science and the Built Environment.
The university also has over 5,000 postgraduate students currently enrolled and over 25,000 students all in all. The diversity of students is wide with two thirds of them from EU, international neighbours, and ethnic minorities. The Online PhD UK course offered in Engineering, Science, and the Built Environment is a three year full time programme which aims to provide students a wide range of research activities undertaken with the academic staff, post doctoral fellows, and visiting professors. Researches are group based and comprising of engineering research areas, applied science research areas, and built environment research areas.
Online PhD UK – Professional Doctorate Requirements
Those who wish to apply for the Online PhD UK programme must have a first of second upper class honours degree and an MSc or MPhil, which will be assessed individually. Applicants from non-UK universities will also have a separate assessment. Students who get accepted will undergo engineering research areas such as automated and robotic Non-destructive testing, applied mechanics, and the like; applied science research areas such as ecology, ecotoxicology, food science and technology, and related subjects.
They will also partake of built environment research areas including construction management and economics, medical architecture, and related areas. To apply for the Online PhD UK programme, candidates must contact the school via the Head of Research while sending a proposed topic for research and a curriculum vitae. The research proposal may also be discussed through phone or mail. Desired applicants will then be interviewed.
