Online PhD Degree programs – Queensland University of Technology – Professional Doctorate in Psychology (Clinical)

The Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is the alma mater of notable individuals like the Hon. Peter Beattie, the former Premier of Queensland, and singer Darren Hayes of the band Savage Garden. Located in Brisbane, Queensland, it is one of Australia’s largest universities with its population of nearly 40,000 students. It is known as being focused on technological research and is a proud member of ATN, the Australian Technology Network of Universities.
Offered aside from regular courses are the online PhD degree programs, like the Professional Doctorate in Psychology (Clinical), which is for people who have already been immersed in the discipline, and yet want to further develop both career and knowledge through high-level research. It consists of a component of coursework to help students transition from work to research study, literature review, research project planning and development, research project implementation, and project reports or published papers that demonstrate student findings.
To be admitted into the online PhD degree program, applicants must hold an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC)-approved four years training or its equivalent with First Class Honors or Honors Class IIA from QUT or another recognized institution. Also, a grade point average of 5.5 or above in the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology or equivalent course is required. Those who apply must provide two referee reports and undergo an interview to determine their interpersonal and research skills in a clinical context.
Applicants who are not already registered with the Psychologists Board of Queensland will be required to register with the Board as a psychologist. However, they will have probationary conditions during the length of the program. The doctorate is comprised of 24 units of coursework.
The online PhD degree program offers classes like Clinical Psychological Assessment, Advanced Integrative Psychotherapy and Health Psychology and Rehabilitation are among the required classes to take, as well as a thesis and a supervised practicum.
