Online PhD Degree Programs-New Jersey Institute of Technology

Doctorate candidates who wish to get a doctorate while still working full-time can enroll in online PhD degree programs offered by the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), which offers 100 degree programs with 27 undergraduate majors and 30 post-graduate specializations. NJIT’s collaborative PhD programs allow professionals to pursue their doctorate degrees on a part-time basis, while allowing flexibility on residency and seminar requirements.
The NJIT was founded in 1881 as the Newark Technical School that offered non-degree technical training in mathematics, science and drawing. Through the years, many of its programs eventually developed into full colleges, and the Institute’s focus on education eventually grew to encompass research. Since the mid-70s, nearly 50 research centres, laboratories and business incubators have been based in NJIT, generating hundreds of technological and scientific breakthroughs.
NJIT’s collaborative online PhD degree programs encompass 12 computer science and engineering disciplines, including Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Transportation. To qualify, candidates must have been employed in their chosen field for at least five years; other work-related research, published work and honors will also be considered when evaluating admission to the doctorate program.
Before they start their dissertation research under online PhD degree programs, students are also required to pass a qualifying exam, have their research proposal approved and complete coursework requirements. Research may be done at the candidate’s place of employment and dissertation topics that are of interest to the employer and the student, as well as NJIT, is encouraged; professional activity will serve in place of regular seminars for doctoral students, and coursework may done through distance learning.
