Online PhD Degree Programs-Monash University

Monash University is one of Australia’s biggest university, and its most internationalized, with an enrollment of over 50,000 students and campuses in Malaysia and South Africa. Monash also has a graduate research school in Mumbai, India and a research and teaching centre in Prato, Italy. Established fairly recently in 1958, it was able to adopt modern educational processes quickly as it had no entrenched traditional practices. In recent years, the University has become known for its groundbreaking medical research, most prominently the discovery in 2000 that nerve stem cells could be harvested from embryonic stem cells.
General admission requirements to doctoral programs, whether on-campus or online PhD degree programs, is a bachelor’s degree with a research component in the fourth year, a master’s degree with a significant research component, or possess equivalent qualifications in the opinion of the admissions committee. The University offers a wide variety of doctorate programs in the various disciplines, and may require a coursework component of up to a year.
Online PhD degree programs require candidates to submit a thesis that may be composed of previously published work or work that has been submitted for publication. Even if the thesis is composed of separate articles, the thesis as a whole must still have a coherent theme like that in a traditional narrative thesis.
A thesis by publication submitted for online PhD degree programs must also incorporate framing papers such as an introductory paper, which defines how the work fits into the existing scholarly literature, a concluding paper and linking papers that will help turn the work into a cohesive whole and guide the reader through the candidate’s research.
