PhD Scholarships from University of Toronto for 2013-14

The University of Toronto is a research school notable its influential movements in the academic market and its academic offerings in literary criticism and in communication theory. Worldwide community engagement is what the University of Toronto wants its students to be prepared of. Which is why, it is dedicated to help them pursue their academic dreams through scholarships. And for the academic year 2013-2014, it just reveals 4 PhD scholarships namely the Connaught International Scholarships for Doctoral Students in Canada, Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program or OGS, Ontario Trillium Scholarships or OTS, and China Scholarship Council (CSC) scholarships.

The Connaught International Scholarships for Doctoral Students in Canada supports new international scholarship applicants who will enroll for doctoral-stream or full-time doctoral programs at University of Toronto. These PhD scholarships will provide scholars with financial support and offer assistance to Graduate Units. They will grant $35,000 financial aid that covers incidental and tuition fees. The same package is renewable throughout the whole duration of the package. The tuition cost of domestic student rate and the minimum fund in the graduate unit will be covered by the unit itself.

Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program acknowledges the academic excellence at the doctoral and master’s levels in all subject areas. About $30 million funds will be provided by the Province of Ontario for the eligible applicants, while $15 million will be coming from the eligible institutions for the 2013-2014 school year. It estimates that recipients may get $15,000 for three consecutive terms or $10,000 for 2 consecutive terms. The duration and value of these PhD scholarships will be identified by the awarding graduate unit and will be specified in the offer letter. Applicants are required to submit 2 academic references, previous publications/awards, Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program application form, and transcripts.

Ontario Trillium Scholarships program is held for four years and given right away to the scholar for each of the 3 years provided that good academic performance is maintained and the eligibility requirements are continued. Applicants should be an international student, not an existing student at any institution in Ontario, interested in pursuing full-time PhDs, and with A- average achievement in the last 2 years of study.

China Scholarship Council PhD scholarships are awarded to outstanding Chinese PhD students. The China Scholarship Council will pay for the visa application fees, yearly living allowance, and return airfare of the recipients. Meanwhile, the tuition fees will be covered by University of Toronto. Qualified applicants are Chinese citizens or those living permanently and not studying or working abroad at the time of the application.
