The University of East London is located in a grand building that has been a place for education since the 1890’s. Over the years this building has housed different forms of technical educational institutions and now, proudly, is the home of the University of East London.
The University gained recognition in 1992 as a full University and was given the right to award degrees. The University of East London has continued to expand since that time and now has several campuses. Currently, the University has over 37,000 students and has expanded to offer online PhD programs.

The online PhD program that is currently being offered is a PhD by published work program. This allows students who are already in their field of expertise to submit their published works to the University as part of the course work for a PhD. To earn this type of degree through the University you must qualify to enter the program.
Online PhD UK – Entry Requirements
To qualify you must have a degree from a qualified university, preferably in your field of study. You must have published works that you can present to the board. Co-authored works must also have proof attached to the publication that shows your involvement in the project. You must have access to research facilities and prove you can access them to complete your work.
Throughout the program you will be required to meet, or exceed, all the requirements set forth by the board of the University. The period of registration for this course is normally six months (with option of extension of twelve months). The entry dates for course is October, 1 January, 1 April or 1 July.
