Online PhD UK – Cardiff University – Professional Doctorate in Education

Teachers who would like to qualify for administrative or other leadership positions in private institutions or in government and non-government organizations should have an award of a Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) on their resume through an online PhD UK program from Cardiff University’s School of Social Sciences. The School’s cutting-edge research projects have attracted more than 18 million in research grants since it was established in 2000.
Educators completing the EdD degree will develop their research-based knowledge and learn how to apply it to problem solving in the workplace. The online PhD UK EdD program requires applicants to have a good first degree and a Master’s in education, social work, health studies or other related field, as well as at least two years of relevant work experience. Foreign students should also provide evidence of proficiency in English through scores of at least band 7.0 in IELTS or 600 or more on TOEFL.
The first part of the EdD online PhD UK program requires students to take eight learning modules on research methodology and specialized concepts; each module has a mandatory attendance requirement to on-campus intensive study sessions of 2-1/2 days each. Upon completion of the modules, candidates are enrolled in the thesis program and will begin researching and writing their thesis, which should be no more than 50,000 words long; they should submit their work at least once a year to thesis advisers for progress evaluations, until the project is done. While students are given a maximum of seven years to complete all academic requirements and be awarded the degree, in general it will take two years to finish the modules and a further two to complete the thesis.
