Online PhD UK–University of Derby

Today’s blog of online PhD UK series is mainly related about a UK university, offering New Route PhD program for international and national students and PhD by Published Works program for their own graduates and employees. The University of Derby, located in Derby, England, has over 300 study programs. The University of Derby began in 1851 with the founding of the Derby Diocesan Institution for the Training of Schoolmistresses. In 1977, it merged with the then Derby Lonsdale College of Higher Education. In 1853, the Derby School of Art was founded. A variety of mergers took place over the next four decades and in 1892 it became Derby Municipal Technical College. A variety of other name changes and mergers and by 1992, with the passage of the Further and Higher Education Acts, that Derbyshire College of Higher Education was the only institution, in the United Kingdom, was immediately upgraded to a university.
The University of Derby understands that continued education for individuals is an important step. For that reason, they offer a support and flexible postgraduate degree program. This flexibility allows students to fit their studies in with the variety of other commitments they have vying for their time.
The New Route PhD program offered by the university begins with the intermediate award of the Master of Research, which is awarded immediately to the candidate once registration for the PhD is confirmed. This is normally two years from commencing the full time research program. Once this stage is completed, the candidate will be offered a core program of online research skills modules. The Masters of Research will be awarded and then progress to the doctoral stage will continue, allowing the candidate to proceed at a significantly deeper level.
A PhD by Published Works program is also offered by the University of Derby. To be eligible, a candidate must be either a current part-time, full-time, or contract employee of the university, or a graduate (of the same university) of not less than three years standing. Former university staff members are also eligible for candidacy, as are current or former member of staff of collaborating establishments. Published works will be of similar quality of a PhD thesis.
