The University of Massachusetts started on 310 rural acres. There were four faculty members, four wooden buildings, and 56 students. After World War II, the university had fast growth in enrollment with 4,000 students. By 1964, it jumped to 10,500 students. In the 1970s the campus started a shuttle bus service. The Murray D. Lincoln Campus Center was added with a hotel, fine dining restaurant, and multi-level parking garage. The W.E.B. Du Bois Library was named “tallest library in the world” when it was finished in 1973. Today, Umass Amherst now has an enrollment of 24,000 students and an excellent reputation both nationally and internationally. The university now offers online PhD Programs.
Online PhD Programs in Computer Science
It is important to note that the University of Massachusetts is offering Computer Science with 2-semester residency only. To qualify for the online PhD Degree Program, you must be on-campus and registered in nine credits for two repeated semesters. You have to have a total of 36 credits. Any classes with a grade of a C or lower will not count toward the PhD Degree. Your overall grade point average must be a 3.0 or higher. You are expected to have a solid undergraduate background in Computer Science.
Online PhD Programs – Entry Requirements
You must prove your knowledge of Computer Science with a set of core requirements. The cores come from three areas of Computer Science which include theory, systems, and artificial intelligence. It will vary depending on if you are working for your Masters degree or your toward the Portfolio. Most cores are content by taking a class associated with the topic and getting a high enough grade.

You have to complete a synthesis project for the online PhD Programs. The synthesis project is a important research project that includes different areas each shown by a reader.
