Online PhD degree programs are now available at the University of Sydney, Australia’s oldest university which ranks top 2 in the country and number 36 in the whole world. It is comprised of sixteen faculties and is filled with world renowned museums and galleries, including the University of Art Collection, the Rare Books Library, and the Nicholson Museum. The University of Sydney currently accommodates over 47,000 students, more than 16,000 of which are undertaking postgraduate study.
The Professional Doctorate in Social Work offered by the university is designed for experienced practitioners in social work who wish to develop excellence in practice research and practice development. Students will also be able to review and develop theoretical approaches, articulate new forms of practice, and be qualified to take on leadership roles in the profession and in human services.
Unlike other online PhD degree programs, the Social Work Doctorates degree is attainable within 6 years if taken part time. Entry requirements include A Bachelor of Social Work degree with First or Second Class Honours. Candidates should ideally be social work practitioners as well. Accepted students will undergo supervised research training and will create a 50,000-word thesis. The whole course will be divided into three phases: Phase 1 for course work and research tasks, phase 2 for articulated research studies, and phase three will include preparation of the thesis and final examination.
An applicant must submit a 500-1000 word research proposal and must pass his/her application to the Faculty of Education and Social Work. The contact position is the graduate coursework adviser. All international applicants for online PhD degree programs must have a 6.5 rate of IELTS.
