The University of New England, Australia and its long line of online PhD degree programs now offer an online Professional Doctorate in Health Service Management (DHSM) course. The university, located in Armidale, New South Wales, is a research lead teaching university known for offering prominent courses in the field of education, law, and medicine. It is also competitive in many research areas including those in economics, agricultural science, archaeology, and linguistics. Currently, the public institution has an average of 700 PhD candidates per every given period and more than 18,000 students enrolled in higher education.
Among the online PhD degree programs offered by the university, the Professional Doctorate in Health Service Management is a program that generally comprises level coursework, professional fieldwork, and a thesis authorship based on original work. The program’s aim is to prepare health service professionals, including senior managers, analysts, and researchers, for enhancement of leadership skills in their field of practice. Objectives will be met through study of relevant theory, research and current practice, as well as research.
Aspirin candidates for the program are expected to hold a Masters Degree in health Services Management or equivalent, with honours. Applicants must also have had professional experience in the field or any equivalent activity. Lastly, the applicant must also demonstrate his/her ability to conduct independent research. Accepted students will have to complete four semester-length units of coursework including starting with Conceptualizing Health Services Management, and ending with Professional Development in Health Services. Each unit will be assessed with an 8,000 word completion. The rest of the time will be dedicated to thesis authorship.
In preparing for application, all candidates must submit a 4-8 page research proposal which will then evolve in the first 6-12 months of the DHSM Program. As like other online PhD degree Programs, each candidate will have full time supervision throughout the research.
