An online PhD UK in Clinical Psychology is a leading programme by the University of Glasgow, an ancient university in Scotland, and the fourth oldest institution in the English-speaking world. It is currently ranked as one of the top ten universities in the United Kingdom and it was once the Scottish University of the Year. It is a proud associate of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities and the Universitas 21, the IRUN, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
The Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology offered by the University of Glasgow is a three-year full-time programme designed for the academically able, enthusiastic, and highly committed to a career in clinical psychology. The aim of the programme is to produce professionals fit to work for the National Health Service and capable of practicing under a range of different clinical settings. The cognitive behavioural approach to psychotherapy is dominant in the training.
Candidates for the online PhD UK course must have a Graduate Basis for Chartering (GBC) taken from a single honours degree or equivalent. Practical or clinical research experience in working with children or adults with mental health disorders, problems, or learning disabilities is also an advantage. The programme content consists of 16 compulsory courses: 5 for the first year beginning with Foundations of Clinical Psychology, 6 courses for the second year beginning with Child/Family/Adolescent Theory and Practice, including Research Methods and Research Practice, and the third year will also comprise 5 courses starting with Advanced Practice 1 and 2.
Trainees undertaking the online PhD UK course, together with the modular teachings, will be employed under the National Health Services and will do research aligned with the current academic staff areas of expertise. They will have supervision all throughout the programme and they may apply online or contact the Psychological Medicine Section of the University of Glasgow.
