Online PhD UK – University of Dundee – PhD in Design

Design professionals who would like to upgrade their qualifications can take online PhD UK degree programs from the University of Dundee. The School of Design of Dundee’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design has one of the most prestigious design studies programs in Britain, and many of its graduates have gone on to distinguished careers in major design studios, or set up their own successful practices. Postgraduate MPhil or PhD degrees can be taken on a full-time or part-time basis and through traditional or practice-led research methods.
The School of Design’s online PhD UK program can be completed in five years part-time. Research can be conducted in design disciplines such as Textile Design, Jewelry and Metals Design and Interactive Media Design, or the student can propose their own research program. The candidate must, however, discuss the details of their proposed study with senior staff members before applying for the program.
The research project must contribute to the expansion of knowledge in the following general research themes: Past, Present and Future Design Practice, Natural Design, Healthcare Design, Interaction Design, Strategic Design and Narratives, Discourse and Representation and must result in a dissertation which will be completed within six years of enrolling in the program.
Formal qualifications such as a Masters degree in a related discipline are not a prerequisite for entry to the online PhD UK Design program, since work experience may also be considered. Foreign students from non-English speaking countries may, however, be required to provide proof of their competence before being allowed to apply.
