An online PhD UK course in Clinical Psychology is one of the programmes available in the University of Edinburgh. The university is a world-renowned center for learning and research in the capital city of Scotland, Edinburgh. It is also one of UK’s ancient universities and is constantly ranked among the top ten universities in all of the United Kingdom. The institution is composed of three main schools and colleges, and is an active member of the Russell Group of research intensive British universities. It is also associated with LERU and the Coimbra group, two leading association of European Universities.
The online PhD UK programme in Clinical psychology is a three-year full-time course that provides trainees the knowledge and skills to work with various client groups using different models in the National Health Service. There is also a flexible 4-5 year training model for those who wish to go part-time. Students will have clinical placements in one of eleven possible Health Boards in Scotland.
Applicants for the online PhD UK programme must have a good honours degree in psychology (at least 2:1), applied research ability shown in the undertaking of a Master’s degree, a Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC), and relevant clinical experience or equivalent. Accepted students will undergo advance teaching and clinical work. Academic knowledge is provided through lectures and workshops. Aside from clinical placement evaluation, case studies, essays, and small scale research projects, students will also be assessed through their doctoral thesis of original research.
Online resources, materials, and a support group will be provided for those who will do distance learning. The University of Edinburgh also provides funding opportunities for eligible applicants.
