Online PhD UK – Queens University Belfast – Professional Doctorate in Childhood Studies

Queen’s University Belfast has become one of the UK’s top universities, demonstrated by its inclusion in the Russell Group, whose membership roster includes many of Britain’s leading higher education institutions. The University offers some 300 degree programs in a broad range of disciplines, including online PhD UK programs for professionals who cannot enroll in full-time courses.
The Professional Doctorate in Childhood Studies (DChild) is aimed at educators and other professionals who work in areas related to children and youth services. Successful graduates of the program will develop competence in the following skills: critical evaluation of relevant literature in the subject area; selection and application of the appropriate methodologies for particular research issues; and identifying the implications for policy of research outcomes. Maximum duration for completion of the online PhD UK doctorate is eight years.
Applicants to the program should have a good first degree and an appropriate advanced degree in the relevant disciplines; they should also be currently practicing with at least three years of work experience in children and youth services. International students should also present high scores in the TOEFL and IELTS as proof of proficiency in English. The online PhD UK course consists of eight taught modules and the submission of a 50,000-word thesis that makes a significant contribution to the body of knowledge in the research area.
To exit with a DChild, the candidate must successfully have completed eight taught modules with a grade of at least 50% and submit a dissertation that is believed by examiners to be of doctoral quality. However, a graduate may also exit with Master of Childhood Studies (MChild) award if the thesis if deemed to be of Master’s standard.
