Course Structure

Course structure for each subject will be different and varied but all subjects required a last thesis (60000 to 80000 words) with final viva. Some subjects need training courses and some need extra modules at campus. Some might need written assessments and examinations to access your progress. You will be allocated a team of supervisors with one director of studies. His/her role is to monitor your progress and have a check on your targets. Apart from your main supervisor, your second supervisor will be specialist in your area of study. At least one member of your supervisor team must have experience of a successful supervision of a PhD or MPhil. Please note that if you have less contact with your supervisors (because of distance), university might appoint a local supervisor for your guidance.

Attendance Requirements

To make sure that distance PhD students have a constant contact with their supervisor and department, you will be required to attend the university from time to time (a summer month in each academic year or a time arranged between you and your supervisor).

Scholars will also have the opportunity to present their research work before fellow students and staff with similar research interests to solicit their input.

Applicants for this online PhD UK are required to have a Masters degree in their field of specialization and be currently employed in the professional position that they wish to study. They must also have the active support of their employers for their DBA studies, since the workplace is where their research will take place. Scholars will undertake taught courses using a range of learning modalities, including workshops, seminars, self-directed study and individual tutoring. At the end of the program, candidates must also have submitted a 10,000-word reflexive professional report and a 50,000-word thesis.

Assessment for the award of the DBA is through examination of the report and thesis, and a viva voce defense of the thesis. The program is expected to be completed in thirty-six months.
