The United States Sports Academy is a sport-specific institution situated in Daphne, Alabama. It is an accredited institution which offers undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate degree programs. The academy also offers certificate programs.
Interestingly, this Academy was actually founded in 1972 when the US Olympic team showed an inferior performance in the Munich Games. The athletes reflected poor quality of coaching and training and so Dr. Thomas P. Rosandich, the academy’s founder, thought of starting the institution. The academy’s programs were primarily designed to serve as an education resource to improve the quality of coaching by instruction, research, and service. These days though, the academy has gone a long way. They now even offer online PhD degree programs. One of them is the Doctor of Education in Sports Management.
The academy’s Doctor of Education program is composed of 66-semester hours. It is one of the only four programs which were approved by none other than the Sport Management Program Review Council. This council is a joint program of the National Association for Sport and Physical Education and the North American Society of Sport Management.
