Located in Canberra is The Australian National University, a public teaching and research university. The university is made up of seven Colleges which undertake postgraduate studies and research as well as undergraduate teaching. These colleges are as follows: the College of Arts and Social Sciences, the College of Asia and the Pacific, the College of Business and Economics, the College of Engineering and Computer Science, the College of Law, the College of Medicine, Biology and Environment and the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.

The degree in in Juridical Science may be studied full-time which takes 4 years and part-time which would take 8 years. Part-time students are expected to complete their coursework component within two semesters and their thesis component within four years of part-time study.

These 24 units of coursework are required to be completed with a minimum grade point average of Distinction before the student is allowed to progress to the thesis. In order to qualify, applicants are required to have Australian Bachelor of Laws degree or an equivalent of the applicant studied abroad.
