The Professional Doctorate in Ministry (DMin) by Research is designed for professional ministers who would like to undertake studies that allow them the opportunity for critical reflection on the discipline of the ministry and related fields. Duration of DMin online PhD degree programs is six years on a part-time basis.
Admission criteria for candidates to this online PhD degree programs include the equivalent of an Honours degree or Masters (by coursework or research) in Theology or Ministry and have at least five years full-time work experience in professional ministry. Overseas applicants should also be able to meet the university’s requirements for English language proficiency. Candidates with alternative academic qualifications may also be considered for entry to the program. Successful graduation from the program requires candidates to complete coursework (four core subjects) and an investigation into a current problem facing the profession, which will be written up in a dissertation.
Graduates of DMin online PhD degree programs will have gained a deeper knowledge of disciplines that underlie the ministry and develop skills that allow them to identify and resolve issues confronting their professions. They will also qualify for teaching positions in higher education institutions.
