A Professional Doctorate in Education program is now available online through the University of Sydney, one of the top universities in the country with its ever increasing enrolment rates. The University is research intensive and has a number of small special-purpose satellite campuses as a result of annexing in the past two decades. University of Sydney is associated with the Group of Eight and is home to many museums and galleries including the Macleay Museum and the Fisher Library. The Doctor of Education is a degree which offers students to accomplish advanced self-reflective research in the profession and practice of education. The program is mainly composed of course work and thesis making. The aim of the course is to develop research professionals in the field of Education.
Like other online PhD degree programs, each candidate for the Doctor of Education course must have a Bachelor’s Degree in the field with first or second class honours, three years experience in the related field. A Master’s or PhD Degree in the same field is also considerable with dissertation and awarded with merit. Students will undergo supervised research training and will create a 50,000-word thesis. The whole course will hinge on three phases including coursework, research studies, and thesis preparation and exam.
Applicants must submit to the graduate coursework adviser of the Faculty of Education and Social Work. A 5,000 to 6,000 word research proposal must be given 12 months prior to final submission.
