Online PhD degree programs in various fields are now offered by the University of Queensland, a public and high ranking institution in Brisbane Australia. The country’s fifth oldest university, founded in 1909, is a member of the Universitas 21 group of research-led universities. It is organised into seven faculties and it is one of the top research universities in all of Australia. With support from the Queensland Government and The Atlantic Philanthropies, the university has developed six major research institutes including the Institute for Molecular Bioscience and the Queensland Brain Institute.
One of the online PhD degree programs that it offers is the Professional Doctorate in Music (DMus), a program designed for eminent scholars in the field to wish to contribute an original and a distinguished and published work that contributes to Music knowledge. Those who aspire to undertake the program must have a Bachelor’s degree in Music of seven years standing and completed substantial part of the work associated with doctorate. A connection with the University is highly considerable and the candidate must also satisfy the executive dean for his/her proposal for research submission. The submitted material at the end of the semester will be an original composition, musicology, or performance. 3 examiners external to the University will judge and report on each material.
Applications will be submitted to the School of Music under the Faculty of Arts. Each application must be written and enclosed with the proposed material with submission, any published work in the field, and the candidate’s curriculum vitae and other relevant documents and academic records.
