Research is conducted among all disciplines in Flinders’ four faculties, which also provide supervision and support for postgraduate research scholars.
Flinders’ online PhD degree programs in Policy and Administration, which lead to the award of a DPA, are intended for practicing professionals in public sector organizations and related institutions who wish to develop new knowledge that can be applied to practice in workplace settings. DPA holders are expected to be able to provide critical analyses of management issues and public policy theory and practice, and to integrate research and practice.
Applicants for DPA online PhD degree programs should possess a first or upper second class honours degree in a relevant discipline or a Master of Arts by research or a Masters earned by coursework in public policy or public management. They should also have five years of work experience in the public sector or an equivalent professional field. Course components include Masters level coursework in public sector management or public policy, doctoral-level coursework subjects and completion of either a dissertation or several shorter research projects.
The DPA will be awarded after external examination of the research projects under University guidelines.Successful completion of DPA online PhD degree programs qualifies graduates to hold leadership positions in public sector organizations, conduct advanced research and to provide input on policy debates in government or non-government organizations.
