Online PhD UK – University of East London – Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD)

The University of East London (UEL) provides an online PhD UK programme in Education. The English institution of more than 20,000 students, more than 5,000 of them postgraduate students, is among the top ten post-1992 universities in the UK for research. Research assessment exercise has once named its researches in some fields, including Sociology as world class. UEL’s online PhD UK course in Education is offered by the Cass School of Education, one of the universities eight academic schools that offers Degree programmes and other courses.
The Professional Doctorate in Education course is for professionals in education who wish to have new developments in teaching and practice. The course aims to help its students increase academic and practical rigour based on their current practice. Its focus is on analysis and reflection, critical inquiry and research, collaborative learning, and action planning and evaluation.
Applicants for the online PhD UK course must have a good Master’s Degree and a minimum of three years professional experience or practice in the field of education. Competence in oral and written English is also required and should pass University standards. At least two members of the academic staff will review each application before a decision is made. The EdD programme comprises three core modules: Key approaches to Educational Research, Methods and Analysis in Educational Research, and Research planning and design. There will also be two optional modules.
Accepted students will enjoy full support from UEL such that there will be an individual tutor for each participant, access to the university’s support learning resources, access to cross-institutional seminars, small teaching sessions, specialised research method training, detailed feedback on assessed work, and a linked specialist librarian.
