Its online PhD UK in Education/Professional Studies (EdD or DrPS) is designed for education professionals in mid-career who are considering shifting careers or want to be considered for leadership positions in their institutions or policy-setting posts in government and non-government organizations. Estimated time for completion of the program is four years from the time of enrollment.
Entry requirements for the online PhD UK EdD or DrPS are a Master’s in a relevant field from a UK university or other recognized institution, as well as at least four years of relevant professional experience. Overseas applicants should also provide evidence of proficiency in English.
The EdD or DrPS program has both a taught and research component. The taught component requires students who are resident in the UK to attend two two-day on-campus formal study sessions per term, each lasting six hours; foreign students enrolled through the online PhD UK program can attend one one-week residency per term instead. The research portion involves the writing of a 50,000-word thesis based on an empirically-based study in your area of specialization, under the supervision of a thesis adviser. The thesis should examine problems relating to being a professional in the context of your particular institution.
