14 International Fully Funded PhD Scholarships from Heriot Watt University for 2014-15
The Heriot-Watt University is a public university that finds its roots in Edinburgh. The university was established back in 1821 when it became the world’s first institute for mechanics. There are many opportunities for students to further their education as well as obtain postgraduate and PhD scholarships to help pay for the expenses that come along with going to a university. There are many different opportunities for postgraduate students to obtain different PhD scholarships or scholarships that fit their form of study. At Heriot-Watt University the Department of Accountancy, Economics, and Finance has begun to offer up to 14 completely funded PhD scholarships for full time studies in Economics, Finance, and Accountancy degrees. The scholarships are available for a term of three years. During those three years recipients are expected to make contributions in their degree department such as teaching and teaching related activities. They are also required to support and participate with the research centers in order to further their studies. Successful PhD scholarships candidates will receive a fee-waiver, research allowance of up to £2,250, as well as an additional allowance of £13,726 yearly. The scholarship lasts a duration of three years in which during this time the recipient will be under the supervision of an approved supervisor. Another PhD scholarship that Heriot-Watt University offers are the MACS Postgraduate Scholarships. The MACS Postgraduate Scholarships are given through the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences meant to be used for postgraduate studies in mathematics or computer science. This group of scholarships is broken down into around five different scholarships that cover anything from discounts on tuition to other expenses. Examples of MACS Postgraduate Scholarships are:
- Jacob Bernoulli Scholarship: offers up to four scholarships that award either a 10% to 15% discount for tuition costs that are given to applicants with outstanding academics wanting to further their financial risk management degrees.
- Colin Maclaurin Scholarship: provides £3,500 to be awarded to students with excellent academics in actuarial science and management.
- Mathematics Scholarship: awards up to 3 scholarships in the amount of £3,000 to academically excellent overseas recipients to be used towards any postgraduate mathematic programme.
- Computer Science Scholarship: awards recipient up to £2,500 given to academically excellent applicants to be used towards any postgraduate computer science program.
