12 Fully Funded PhD Scholarships at University of Canterbury New Zealand

The University of Canterbury is the second oldest public university in New Zealand, specifically located at Christchurch, Canterbury. It was established in 1873 and initially named as Canterbury College until it was changed to its current name in 1957. The university is known for its wide range of courses offered within its faculties, diverse student body and energetic university environment. Its faculties include:

The university is among the highest ranking universities in New Zealand and also the first university in the country to be awarded with five stars by the QS Stars.

The 12 PhD scholarships at the university cater to UK, EU and international students. There is only one program that requires self-funding from its candidates while the rest are fully funded by their respective departments. International students are encouraged to apply provided that they are willing to cover the difference in tuition fees.

Successful applicants of the University of Canterbury PhD scholarships are awarded with NZD$25,000 that will cover tuition fees and living expenses per year. The scholarships will also provide a yearly support fee of NZD$6,590 in addition to the full funding. The university ensures that each successful applicant are given competitive funding.

The following are the PhD scholarships offered at the University of Canterbury. So far, only three departments have postgraduate programs that are fully funded.

All of the PhD scholarships listed above accept applications all year round. The departments review the applications based on how early they are submitted so it is important that interested applicants submit their credentials as soon as possible. There is only a few vacant positions in every program and only the most suitable applicant will be considered.
