Edinburgh University is a public research university situated in Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh in 1583. The school is regarded as one of the more diverse and larger research universities. These study grants are part of the university’s innovative scholarship scheme comprising research, training, and then career development. The scheme offers valuable opportunity for students conducting postgraduate research in order to take training and for the development of skills necessary in meeting their career choices and open them to opportunities in the fields of entrepreneurship, research, public engagement, and teaching.
Note that each of the 51 PhD scholarships includes tuition fee and stipend amounting to 14,000 pounds, both in EU/UK rate. The scholarship grants are awarded up to three years in PhD degree program. However, bear in mind that this is still subjected to the satisfactory progress of the scholars.
These study grants are accessible to EU, overseas, and UK students who are filing application to get research PhD degree in academic year 2013-2014. Interested students for the scholarships are encouraged to contact the respective school where they want to study just before their application process to determine the availability of the funding for their desired discipline to research. Applicants are expected to have already filed admission application to a full-time research programme at the school. They have to be excellent in their academics as well as in their research potential. They should be holders of 2:1 honours degree or a British first class in their undergraduate studies or its international equivalent. Take into account that students may be disqualified from applying for the 2013 scholarships if they applied for a consecutive registration to start their Master’s programme in 2013 and their PhD in 2014.
