Online PhD UK-Keele University

The research intensive Keele University, once known for its reputation for left wing radicalism or at least political activism, has its own brand of online PhD UK program similar to those of other universities: the Doctoral Degree by Published Work. In 1949 the educational institute which would come to be known as Keele University was founded as an experimental college. Dedicated to interdisciplinary study and a broad curriculum, Keele University is a pioneer of the dual honors degree in the UK.
The university’s Doctoral Degree by Published Work requires candidates to meet the same standards as the usual route to obtaining the Doctoral Degree. The candidate for Doctoral Degree by Published Work will need to submit three copies of the details of his qualifications, a list of works submitted, a critical commentary on the works submitted which should comprise an assessment of the contribution the works have made to that particular field of knowledge, and copies of all relevant published material, of course with a title page with relevant information. An oral defence will then be conducted after satisfactory submission of the above prerequisites and review of a panel of examiners. Uniquely, any one of the examiners appointed may waive the oral defence if they can justify it, making the program an almost utterly online PhD UK course if that so happens.
The awarding of the PhD of course is on the basis of the candidate meeting the requirements of the university and the National Qualifications Framework. Everything considered, though, side by side with other online PhD UK offerings in other universities across UK, Keele University’s Doctoral Degree by Published Works is one that requires the least amount of time needed to actually be anywhere near campus grounds.
