The Professional Doctorate in Clinical Physiotherapy (DClinPhysio) is offered under the University’s School of Physiotherapy, widely recognized as one of the country’s best providers of physiotherapy education. The duration of DClinPhysio online PhD degree programs is up to six years on a part-time basis.
Applicants for the DClinPhysio online PhD degree programs must be a qualified physiotherapist with an Honours degree in Physiotherapy and a grade average of at least H2B or a Masters in Physiotherapy by coursework or research (or the equivalent qualifications). Overseas students who come from non-English speaking countries should also demonstrate proficiency in English through high TOEFL or IELTS scores. During the first part of the program, the candidate will take advanced research and clinical education subjects; this will be followed by the undertaking of an original research project which will be documented in a thesis of no longer than 30,000 words.
Upon successful completion of Professional Doctorate in Clinical Physiotherapy, graduates will not only have gained advanced clinical skills which will contribute to the improved assessment, treatment and management of patients, but also developed problem-solving skills which they can use to resolve pressing concerns in their practice. DClinPhysio holders will also qualify for administrative positions (i.e. department heads) in hospitals and other health care organizations.
