PhD Scholarships from Flinders University for 2014

Flinders University justifies itself in excellence in terms of research and teaching. The Australia-based university is reputable to have a lengthy commitment in strengthening opportunities in academics. It is also recognized for its strong commitment in community engagement. And to continue its dedication, the university is now offering its 2014 PhD scholarships including the International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS), Postgraduate Research Scholarships for Research Higher Degrees, and the Flinders International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (FIPRS).
The International Postgraduate Research Scholarships or IPRS are open to all international students based on their educational research training, research indicator and performance, and academic merits. These PhD scholarships allow qualified students to start their research degree in higher education in a fulltime basis. They are tenable for a maximum of two years for a Master’s degree and three years for a Doctorate degree. They cover the tuition fees of the successful candidates along with their own and their dependents’ health cover and visa application payment. They provide an annual stipend and living allowance at $23,728 free from index and tax. They may also provide Dependent Child Allowance for the students’ dependent up to the age of 18 relying on their income as well as to those residing in Adelaide. Eligible applicants of these grants are PhD students from overseas countries except New Zealand and those who can comply with the requisites for the PhD degree. An evidence for English proficiency is a necessity for international students in which English is not their native language. Deadline for these scholarships is 16th of August, 2013.
Postgraduate Research Scholarships for Research Higher Degrees are available to domestic applicants who are interested to study higher research degree. These PhD scholarships include the Flinders University Research Scholarship or FURS, AJ & IM Naylon PhD Scholarship, Joyner Scholarships in Law, Medicine and Science, Advanced Community Care Scholarship and a lot more. They cover tax-free stipend from $24,653 to $36,706 in full-time basis, paid annual sick leave and recreation, and paid maternity leave. Eligible applicants for these grants should be
- Citizens of New Zealand or Australia or those who received permanent residency,
- International students who completed with honours or the equivalent at Flinders university,
- Have completed undergraduate study,
- Enroll as PhD students in full-time basis,
- Have accepted candidature in the area where they want to study.
Please note that above scholarships have two rounds of applications –applications for mid year scholarships mostly opens at 15 May and closes at June 30, 2013. On the other hand, main round scholarships have a different deadline – September 1 and closes on October 31, 2013.
The Flinders International Postgraduate Research Scholarships or FIPRS are given to foreign students based on academic research training, research performance and indicators, and academic merit. They allow eligible applicants to start their research degree after all the requirements are submitted. Successful candidates of these PhD scholarships will be automatically referred to the International Postgraduate Research Scholarship or IPRS. They pay the full tuition fees of the students, annual living allowance of $23,728, and establishment allowance to as much as $1,485. Acceptable applicants for the study grants are international students from overseas countries except for those living in New Zealand and those who managed to satisfy the requirements set by the university. Deadline for these scholarships is 16 August, 2013.
