PhD Scholarships from University of Adelaide for 2014

University of Adelaide is listed as one of the high-ranking universities since its establishment in 1874. The university is considered as the third oldest educational institution with solid reputation for excellence in teaching and research in Australia. It is one of the members of the prestigious Group of Eight, which constitutes the leading research-intensive universities located within the country. It only offers education with utmost quality recognized internationally and one that leads to rewarding and very satisfying careers. It is noted that it draws its own strength from its basic value, which is for its future teaching and research aspirations. And in line with this, the university is now offering its International Postgraduate Scholarships or IPRS for the 2013-2014 academic year. These PhD scholarships are just some of its student aid programs designed for students with difficulty in financially supporting their studies, but are willing to reach their dreams.
The IPRS scheme is offered to international students who want to take up Master’s Degree by Research and then a Doctoral Degree by Research in three years at the University of Adelaide. The scheme aims to attract high-end international postgraduate students to subject areas for research in higher education. There are nearly 15 PhD scholarships offered to students from different countries worldwide in 2014.
Successful applicants for these PhD scholarships are entitled with the following grants:
- Tuition fees for the preferred course for a Master’s degree for two years and doctoral degree for three years.
- An Australian Postgraduate Award or APA, which provides for an annual living allowance amount as much as $24,653 for normal duration
- Subclass 574 visa holder recipients are offered with compulsory standard Worldcare policy for Overseas Student Health Cover or OSHC for students and their spouse as well as their dependents for the entire period of the scholarship.
The university points out that students who are holders of commonwealth scholarship are exempted from paying their visa application.
To become eligible of the PhD scholarships, applicants are expected to have a minimum of an Australian First Class Honours degree with research project in their final year. Applicants should consider their honours and scholarships, conference paper presentation, undergraduate performance, and industry experience. The applications for these study grants are also considered very competitive as recipients are thoroughly screened and then trained to be the best in their field of research when they have completed their respective degrees.
Among the other important conditions to successfully attain these scholarships are:
- Ineligibility of the permanent residents and citizens of Australia and those coming from New Zealand
- IPRS are granted based on the academic merits of the applicants
- Requirement for enrollment at the university as international student and maintain such status until the duration of the course is completed
- Ineligibility of those who are undertaking their research through remote candidature.
It is also announced that applicants should submit their application form along with the other requirements before the closing date of these PhD scholarships on August 31, 2013.
