The Doctoral Scholarships of Essex University provide financial backing to talented PhD students who want to pursue their doctoral degree. These PhD scholarships are being granted to students who are able to demonstrate exceptional educational background as well as the potential to achieve more in the future. They are granted every year of study during the standard minimum enrolment periof of the degree of choice. This will be continuous up to three years of study. However, the continuation of the scholarship is still subjected to the satisfactory progress showed by the scholars.
For 2013-2014 school year, the scholarships are offered in three types. First is the Doctoral Scholarship amounting to 16,250 pounds annually that covers fee waiver up to a maximum value of 4,000 pounds, livings costs of 12,000 pounds, and a training bursary of 250 pounds every year. Second is the Graduate Teaching and Research Assistantship worth 8,250 pound each year that includes fee waiver to as much as 4,000 pounds, living costs of 4,000 every year, and a training bursary of 250 pounds a year. Third is the Doctoral Fee Waiver amounting to 4,250 pounds annually including fee waiver up to 4,000 pounds and a training bursary of 250 pounds each year.
These Doctoral Scholarships are open to EU, UK, and international full time PhD students. In order for them to get the scholarships, they should have received an offer from the university and completely filled out the application form on or before the set deadline on March 1, 2013. These offer are for an Integrated PhD, PhD, or part time Professional Doctorate. The financial need of the students is also a great factor in selecting the qualified candidate. Successful applicants for the PhD scholarships will be notified by the end of March in 2013.
