International PhD Scholarships from University of Sheffield

Founded in 1905, the University of Sheffield now has over 24,000 students throughout the world. It ranks among the top 100 universities in Great Britain and worldwide with its internationally excellent research submissions. It is now recognized to be at the forefront of research in a wide range of study areas across the globe. In fact, it has already produced five of the Nobel Prize winners ever since. The university encourages not just local students, but the international students as well through its international academic funding for the 2013-2014 schools year through its PhD scholarships. These scholarships include Harry Worthington Scholarships, British Library Scholarships, University Prize Scholarships, Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships in the Humanities, and Faculty Scholarships.

Harry Worthington Scholarships are open to applicants who have interest in pursuing their PhD degree program in any PhD departments of the university. These scholarships are granted to two top-performing PhD applicants, who will be receiving a total sum of 13,590 pounds for the annual, tax-free stipend. Qualified applicants should have or expected to have honours degree in the country or its equivalent academic achievement overseas and should apply not later than August 1, 2013.

The British Library Scholarships are designed to back projects that draw on the expertise and holdings of the British Library. Qualified applicants will be supervised by the British Library and a staff from the university. They will be awarded 13,590 pounds to cover their tuition fees and annual tax-free stipend along with 500 pounds for other expenses like books, consumables, equipment, conferences, and travel.

University Prize Scholarships support up to 3 years full-time or 6 years part-time study of students depending on their progress. They grant successful candidates with an annual stipend of 16,000 pounds and 2000 pounds for other expenses. The sum covers their full tuition fees, annual tax-free stipend and research training support.

Qualified applicants of the Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships in the Humanities are entitled to receive tuition fees, annual tax-free stipend amounting to 15,000 pounds, and research training support of 5,500 pounds every year. They should enroll to study in the subjects of literature, languages, and history. They are also expected to be one of the future leaders in academics and to make a significant impact in their chosen filed of specification.

The University of Sheffield invests in a significant amount for its Faculty PhD Scholarships to fund the outstanding postgraduate research students. Each of its faculty offers PhD scholarships depending on the subject matter pursued by the successful candidates. These awards may include tuition fees and stipend at 13,590 pounds, 6,795 pounds for part-time scholars, and a contribution for living expenses and other fees. The eligibility requirements for these scholarships are the same as the other scholarships mentioned earlier.
