Vice-chancellor’s Doctoral Scholarships from AUT University New Zealand

The AUT University is one of the newest Universities of New Zealand but has 110 years of history of providing education. The Auckland University of Technology is now the only University established after 1960 in New Zealand. The University now has a distinct name in the field of research. It attracts students from all over the world. The research areas are mainly concentrated on inventing new products and services to improve the lives of the people and helping the society to think and act differently. The research conducted at the University helps in bringing about the social and economic development throughout Asia and Pacific. The University supports its research scholars through the PhD scholarships awarded to the deserving and academically bright students.
The Auckland University of Technology has dedicated research institutes and centres to provide facilities to the research scholars. The University also has a business innovation centre which collaborates with the industry to provide industrial exposure to the students and also arrange for the funding of the research programs. The PhD scholarship available for the new research scholars in the present academic year is the Vice Chancellor’s Doctoral Scholarships. These scholarships are designed to help the students financially so that they can contribute to a world-leading research. The AUT is the most innovative universities of New Zealand and hence come up with such scholarships to help the students so that they can gain benefit from the University.
The Vice Chancellor’s Doctoral Scholarship of the AUT covers the tuition fee of the research program and an annual stipend of $25000 for three years. The present value of the total scholarship is estimated to be about $96000. The faculties where the candidates can apply for the scholarships are:
- Business and Law
- Design and Creative Technologies
- Health and Environmental Sciences
- Culture and Society
- Maori Development

The candidate applying for the scholarship must meet the requirements of taking admission in the doctoral program at the University. The candidate must possess relevant Master’s degree or Honour’s degree or equivalent with first or second class. Previous study should include an independent research project and research methodology. If the candidate has a research experience and publication record preference would be given to him. New candidates enrolled in the research candidate would be given preference over the students in the first year of their doctoral program.
Candidates wishing to apply for the Vice Chancellor’s Doctoral Scholarships must complete an online application form for the scholarship together with the admission form of the doctoral program. The subject area where the candidates wish to perform their research should be indicated and then he form will be directed to the relevant departments. The application form for the PhD scholarship form should be completed along with a research proposal and 2 academic referees. The completed application form with the required documents should reach the AUT scholarship office by 24th September 2012. The candidates would be informed about their results in the mid of November.
