University of Kent’s 50th Anniversary Scholarships

The University of Kent has been contributing to postgraduate education and research since 1965. According to RAE in 2008 the university was ranked 24th in UK for world-leading research projects. The University is known for its global outlook and excellent career opportunities for the research scholars at the University. The University partners with some of the best research institutes and research centre in UK and Europe. The strong academic community in the University provides for the enriching environment and state-of-the-art research facilities in the University. The university offers various PhD scholarships to its domestic and international students. This help the students to contribute to the wold-leading research conducted at the University.
In the year 2015 the University would be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the University. In preparation of the anniversary the University is ready to offer PhD scholarships to its research scholars. These scholarships would be offered at the same rate as UK’s research councils’. There are 100 scholarships which would be awarded from 2012 and the scholars awarded would be known as Kent’s 50th Anniversary scholars. It is open to all the research scholars pursuing their doctoral program at the University irrespective of their nationality and gender. The candidates applying for the scholarships should have honour’s degree or Master’s degree with distinction in relevant subject or equivalent. There is a formal application form for the scholarships which has to be completed and sent to the University with all the required documents.
There is no last date to apply for the 50th Anniversary scholarship and is open till the seats are filled. The decision of award of the scholarship will be based on the academic merit and all the documents attached with the application form. There are five main sections of the form which include choosing the subject, personal information, email verification, required documents should be attached and should be complete in all respect. Some of the subjects where the scholarships are available are Anthropology, Actuarial Sciences, Bio-Sciences, Business, Drama, Education, Economics, Engineering, History, Languages, Law, Music, Mathematics, Religious Studies, Psychology, Sports and many more. Students may select their subjects according to their preference and expertise.
Beside the 50th Anniversary PhD scholarship there are various other scholarship open for the research scholars at the University. There are graduate teaching assistantships where the doctoral students are supported financially in return of teaching. This gives students an experience in teaching and also helps them to get expertise in their research subjects. Students who have studied their Master’s degree in Kent University are also eligible to apply for the Loyalty Discount in their PhD scholarships. The University allocates 6 million GBP each year in various funding programs to help the scholars at the University. Students can apply for the scholarships based on their country, sports and music scholarships and funding specifically for international students. The UK research councils also help and support the students in their research projects at the University. The last date to apply for the PhD scholarships is different for different subjects and the candidates are selected purely on academic basis.
