Online PhD degree programs, such that in Education, may now be taken from the University of Notre Dame Australia; a close associate with University of Notre Dame in the United States of America, and one of the few yet competitive private Catholic universities in all of Australia. It embraces the modernity of Australian University tradition and the esteemed traditions of Catholic institutions in the US and in Europe. It is associated with the mission of the Church in Australia in providing education and service to indigenous people in the northern part of the country.
The Professional Doctorate in Education program is a program for educators that can be taken 3 years full time and 6 years part time. Students will complete fours units of coursework with the first full time year of the program. And after gaining a C credit of each of the compulsory coursework, the student will formulate a research proposal and have it accepted by the university. A thesis will then be authored in a substantial area of scholarship addressing a significant professional issue.
Entry criteria for online PhD degree programs in Education include a Masters Degree by thesis or coursework, a Bachelors Degree with first or second class honours, and a minimum of three years relevant professional practice or support from an industry or professional mentor. The coursework component of the degree comprises: Applied Research and Evaluation Methods; Ethics for Professional Practice and Research; Developing a Research Proposal; and Scholarly Writing and Publication. The thesis will be an original research work composed of 50,000-70,000 words.
Upon admission to the degree, each student will be assigned a Supervisor by the university. Candidates for online PhD degree programs in Education may only be awarded with the degree by accumulating at least 600 credit points; a third of which is from coursework and two-thirds derived from a pass grade in Thesis or higher.
