The University of Adelaide is one of Australia’s best universities, and its high rankings in major league tables for the quality of its education and research have consistently landed it in listings of the world’s top 100 universities. Fields in which Adelaide has research strengths include IT and communications, social sciences, environmental sciences and health sciences.
The Professional Doctorate in Nursing (DNurs) is intended for nurses who have acquired a certain level of professional experience and who would like to enhance their career prospects by earning advanced qualifications. The duration for part-time DNurs online PhD degree programs is the equivalent of three years full-time work.
Applicants for this online PhD degree programs must have the equivalent of an Honours degree of at least IIA standard or a Masters degree in Nursing or other relevant discipline, as determined by the Research Education and Development Committee. Overseas graduates must also meet English-language requirements for proficiency through high scores in the TOEFL or IELTS. The program consists of coursework and a program of study and research approved by the Committee, which will be documented in a doctoral portfolio. The portfolio should consist of three related research projects which should make a significant contribution to knowledge in the candidate’s field of professional practice. The total word length of the portfolio should be around 80,000 words.
Applicants for this online PhD degree programs may be given credit for research or coursework that has been undertaken in a recognized university provided that such work has not been presented towards another degree. Maximum credit that can be granted will be the equivalent of one year full-time of the total program.
