The Professional Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) is a program that is equal in rigor to a PhD but focuses on research that makes a significant contribution to students’ professional practice. The duration of DClinDent online PhD degree programs is a minimum of two years and a maximum of six years from the commencement of the candidature.
Applicants for this online PhD degree programs should have the recognized equivalent of an Honours degree in Dental Surgery with at least a 2A Standard and a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience commencing from when the qualification was conferred. Overseas students must also present high scores in the TOEFL or IELTS as proof of proficiency in English. The DClinDent program will consist of coursework and clinical components and an approved program of study and research. The doctoral thesis submitted at the end of the program may comprise one long article or a portfolio of publications of a publishable standard.
While papers included in the research portfolio for the assessment of this online PhD degree programs should have been published or accepted for publications in peer-reviewed journals, work on all papers must have been completed during the duration of the candidature; the body of work should also form a cohesive research narrative.
