The constituent college of the University of London named UCL of University College London now offers a Professional Doctorate in Virtual Environments, Imaging and Visualisation (EngD). The Engineering Doctorate programme focuses on the field of visualisation engineering. Its aim is to provide sufficient background and the needed research skills so that students may undertake industry based-research on key concepts. The programme also ensures the cross fertilization of the skills experienced by engineers, software engineers and designers so that there will be mastery and reciprocal understanding in all areas.
Those who apply for the online PhD UK must have Master’s degree with upper second class Honours, and a UK Bachelor’s degree in the same field. Overseas qualification is also acceptable as long as it makes the equivalent standard. Those with sufficient relevant professional experience and substantive background knowledge may also be accepted. Students who undertake this online PhD UK will embark on research areas such as the design and development of virtual environments, ass well as the associated technologies of computer graphics, haptics, auralisation, computer vision, distributed virtual environment, imaging, and processing. Mode of teaching and learning will involve taught modules, participation in generic research and skills training, and group project training with the aforementioned cross participation.
During the final six months of the course will be closed with a thesis. All throughout the online PhD UK programme students will also be assessed to assure their mastery in literature and sate of the art in the field. The overall programme takes 48 months full time.
