PhD Research Studentships from Falmouth University for 2014-15

Falmouth University is a multi-art university rooted in Falmouth, Cornwall, England. The university was established in 1902 under the name Falmouth School of Art and went through a series of name changes before obtaining university college status in 2005. In 2008 the college merged with Dartington College which greatly improved the range of courses the school had to offer. In 2012 the university was finally approved for university status. Since the universities establishment in 1902 the school has thrived to further the ambitions of its students as well as become one of the top art universities in the world.

Falmouth University is pleased to announce a limited amount of PhD scholarships in research areas such as design, art, media, performance and writing. These PhD scholarships or studentships are available on a competitive, academic merit basis. These studentships are available to help financially support full time students over a three year period but part time PhD scholarships are available as well and last a duration of four years.

For home students that are residents of the country these PhD scholarships are available on a full time and part time basis. The full time award covers the price of fees accumulated during a PhD programme and waives the fees for a maximum of three years. The part time award is broken into two parts. The first part time award waives fees for a maximum of four years. The second part time award is a full award and offers a studentship for the duration of part time study for four years. The fees are waives and an additional allowance of £5,000 annually is awarded to help provide the PhD student with a financial cushion. The money awarded from this type of studentship is not subject to income taxes.

International students are also invited to apply for these studentships. However, international students will only be considered for full time awards that covers fees for a maximum of three years in a full time study programme. These studentships are equal opportunity studentships and are available to applicants regardless of gender, race, or ethnicity.
