International Fully Funded PhD Scholarships from University of Vienna Austria

The University of Vienna is a public university based in Vienna, Austria. The university was founded in 1365 by Duke Rudolph IV and is the oldest public university in the German area of the world. Today the University of Vienna is one of the most culturally renowned and history rich universities. The University of Vienna boasts impressive academic history and is linked a respectable number of Nobel Prize winners. The University of Vienna is unique in that it is not just one large joint campus. The university is composed of numerous academic establishments spread out through over sixty different locations throughout the entire city of Vienna.

With the universities impressive history it is no wonder that the university attracts a large international student base in need of various PhD scholarships. The university offers their UC International PhD Scholarships to international students on a full time study basis with a maximum of three years. The intent for the scholarship is for the recipient to use their first two years for studies and commit the last year of their scholarships to developing their doctorate thesis. There is a limited number of PhD scholarships as the university only accepts 15 PhD students on an annual basis. The PhD scholarships provides an allowance of EUR 1,000 monthly to cover the cost of living.

Eligibility for these scholarships are as follows:
• Applicants may apply no matter what their country of origin is. The University of Vienna strives for diversity and equality.
• Qualified female applicants are specifically encourage to apply as the University of Vienna tries to fulfill a female quota of at least 40% yearly.
• Admission and acceptance are based on a highly competitive academic scale. This is to encourage a higher level of academic and research quality.
• International students are required to perform phone interviews for their scholarships. The interview weighs heavily when determining qualifications and if an applicant will be accepted for a scholarship.

Applying for these scholarships as well as admission is not a hard thing to do. It is important to get all applications and paperwork needed in as early as possible because the program is a very competitive program to get into. Applications must be submitted online. The following documentation must be scanned and uploaded as a PDF file:
• All appropriate forms of documentation from passports to visas.
• Academic degrees the applicant has completed as well as transcripts to show evidence of academic excellence.
• A short letter written by the applicant expressing why they think that they deserve a spot with the university.
• A Master thesis written by the applicant that thoroughly explains the methods and conclusions of the individual’s thesis.
• Evidence of proficiency in the English language these tests are not required for applicants where English is their first language.
• At least two letters of recommendation with one being from a credible source with a scientific background. Letters of recommendation have to be uploaded by the referees and not by the applicant. Failure to do this will result in the letters not being accepted.
• Applicants must submit a research proposal. This document is not mandatory but will help boost an applicant’s chances of being accepted for a scholarship.

The deadline for these scholarships is the 2nd of June.
