59 Fully Funded International PhD Scholarships from London School of Economics for 2014-15

Specialist university London School of Economics has global and international reach with teaching and research span from politics, law and economics to anthropology, finance, accounting, sociology and anthropology. The university is reputable for its academic excellence. Its continuous success is considered as one of the foremost social science universities in the world. It is usually found in the national and international academic as well as in the list of the top universities in London in three consecutive years. It prioritises research, engagement and student research. In line with its vision to contribute to societal improvement, it helps economically incapacitated students to pursue their studies through its PhD scholarships, specifically its 59 full scholarships.

At London School of Economics, new PhD students offer 59 full scholarships that cover living expenses including fees amounting to £18,000 every year for four years. These PhD scholarships are available to EU or UK and to overseas candidates who are taking full time research at the university in any course of study. They are granted based on the research potential and academic merits of the student, applicants. The academic performance considered also includes an evaluation of the applicants’ preferred topic and aptitude for PhD study completion other than their past academic record. Each of the student awards is provided with subjection to annual renewal of the subject to the school’s satisfactory academic performance.

It is noted each academic department of the school is authorised to nominate candidates for the PhD scholarships. A panel representing various academic disciplines within the school is responsible for making award decisions. The scholarships require scholars to contribute to their specific academic department through teaching or any other work in their department, which is usually from the second year of their study and onwards. They are not offered on an independent application form since the selection process is based on the school’s PhD application. The scholarship selection is done until April 28, 2014. Student applicants are recommended to checkout the departmental entries for PhD or MPhil available in the graduate prospectus for the deadline.

To be considered for any of the PhD scholarships, applicants should submit their application form (downloaded or in hard copy and completely filled out) for a PhD programme by the specified deadline. The application form comes with supporting documents including transcripts and references. Applicants are advised to make their application early due to the intense competition for the PhD programmes. The application will only be considered until all the supporting documents are received. Students are also allowed to apply for as much as two programmes, to be sequentially considered according to the application form’s order. Special request is necessary for the consideration of the first programme.
