235 International PhD Scholarships from University of Melbourne for 2014-15

The University of Melbourne is a public Australian university that is based in Melbourne, Victoria. The university saw it’s beginning in 1853 which makes it one of the oldest universities that Australia has to offer. The University of Melbourne has received top reviews and rankings from many different academic ranking systems such as the QS World University Rankings where it places 31st, and number 1 for Australia according to Times Higher Education. It is a marvelous school that has much to offer international students wishing to further their education. They have many different PhD scholarships as well as other funding available to help ease the financial burden.

Two such categories of scholarships are the Melbourne International Research Scholarship or MIRS and the International Postgraduate Research Scholarship or IPRS. Both group of scholarships are available to graduate students wishing to continue their education in research degrees. Both of these categories are available as PhD scholarships. It is important to note that University is Melbourne is currently offering 200 new Melbourne International Research Scholarship and 35 New International Postgraduate Research Scholarship for Year 2014-2015.

The Melbourne International Research Scholarship or MIRS are presented to international students wanting to undertake further studies for their research degrees. Annually the school normally awards 150 MIRS awards to international students. MIRS covers the following:

There are a few criteria that have to be met for applicants to be considered for this group of PhD scholarships. The selection criteria will be based off of academic merit as well eligibility criteria.

The other selection of scholarships are the International Postgraduate Research Scholarships or IPRS. The IPRS has funding from the Australian government and is given to international students who want to further their studies in their graduate research degrees.
